August 14th, 2002 (11:38 pm)

Since the beginning of July, I've been recording what I eat, and my weight.

(yes, Jenny, there should be error bars. (for +/- 0.5lb)

Here's a graph:

I don't intent to go to Susan's extremes. My goal is litheness.

(the x-axis is days, 0 represents July 3, and the y-axis is in pounds)

yeah just don't get addicted.

and go find out your body mass index (google for BMI calculator) it will give you weight guidelines for your height

But it looks like you're going at a safe pace .... I have no idea what "underweight" for somone your height is, and since you never were thick to start with don't get me all worried! I already have 3000 people in my brain for this.

blah....

First, let me second that losing weight to be lithe is good. Don't overdo it, since I already think of oonh as on the thin side.

The BMI is a crock if you have any muscle and/or bones. There are body-fat-percentage calculators on the web that use an assortment of measurements (women is wrist-forearm-waist-hips, but men are different) that seem much saner.

Note this is a personal crusade because: People, including women with figures similar to mine, will guess me at almost 30lbs under what I actually weigh. The BMI follows those guesses, and puts my actual weight in the obese range. The measurement ones will put me at chubby-with-muscles, which is the right location. My BMI-dictated weight (130ish) is less than what the measurement-based metrics say is my lean body mass (133ish). Scary.

I assume you been exercising and stuff?

40 mins continuous walking or cycling a day, that sort of thing. I've been trying to keep to it.

I've been steadfastly boycotting both elevators and escalators, both upwards and downwards -- even at porter sq.
Last week I walked from my home to the Arlington T stop, which was fairly long and nifty.
