Early this morning I cooked an associative array which I only have substantive access to the keys, but not their references. The keys are short, vaguely descriptive strings: "regrowing hand", "concrete box in dustland", "fast peleg", "house of flass". The values of the keys are the vague memories of dreams in my mind. I'm going somewhere with this. I don't have the chronological order which I dreamed these dreams.

Some times, I have days in which dream memories seem eager to jump onto my consciousness. I want
to know why.

It happens because you are alive. I could not parse what you were doing with the ideas... You have a list of ideas from your dreams and you're putting them on a grid then looking at how each relate? Huh?

The grid would be an instance of the abstraction. But, that's essentially correct. I recall them, then print it all out, and
finally cut each dream description out so it's a little strip, and then I make a web of the strips.
